Curators and festivals 07 / 16
Giving a sequence its shape.
An exhibition takes a position through its works and the intervals between them. Curators and photography festivals can explore the collections alongside the exhibition journeys presented here.
Thresholds, appearances, horizonsThresholds, appearances, horizons
Geografie del silenzio moves through three rooms, from built geometries to isolated forms and the distance of landscape. It offers a way to see how a photograph changes beside another. The portfolio allows that reading to widen, making room for other sequences and relationships.
An exhibition also takes shape through what is withheld. An opening photograph establishes a tone; a sequence shifts the meaning of a figure; a pause gives a visitor time to remember. The relationship between geometry and landscape offers one ground on which to consider these changes.
The online exhibition presents one reading while leaving others open. A festival, a thematic programme and an intimate venue may each call for a different selection. A curatorial question and a sense of the intended audience are useful beginnings. From there, a conversation can examine sequences, connections with other practices and the photographs that genuinely sustain the proposed journey.
For a curatorial proposal, share a theme, venue and possible dates. Selection and exhibition terms need a direct conversation.
