Hospitality 11 / 16
Images for places that welcome.
A hotel or restaurant is remembered partly through what it invites us to notice. A photograph can give depth to a moment of waiting, accompany a passage or suggest a relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The character of a placeThe character of a place
Landscape, Macro and Pattern offer three distances: the horizon, the small detail and repetition. In a hospitality setting, these photographs may create a thread between rooms. The character of the building, its light and the time guests spend there can guide the choice.
In hospitality, an encounter with an image often begins during a pause. Someone waits, looks up, recognises a form and returns to it later. Photographs can accompany those moments without demanding continuous attention. Landscape, detail and pattern suggest different continuities within a place.
Consider how the rooms differ. An entrance begins the encounter; a guest room allows a more private experience; a shared space brings many viewpoints together. A common thread can leave each setting its own character. Exploring the collections helps find that thread, while a conversation about the building allows the selection to be considered in relation to its architecture.
For a hospitality project, describe the spaces and the works you have in mind. Availability and presentation can then be discussed.
